The Minimum Wages Order 2020 (‘2020 Order’) was gazetted on 10 January 2020 and will come into operation on 1 February 2020. Two different sets of minimum wage rates will apply in Malaysia.

A) RM5.77 an hour, or RM1,200 monthly.
The  minimum  wages  rates  payable  to  an  employee who  works in  a  place  of employment in any of the following 16 City Council or 40 Municipal Council areas as specified in the Schedule shall be as follows:
SarawakJobs - 16 & 40 areas


B) RM5.29 an hour, or RM1,100 monthly.
Minimum wages rates in areas other than the City Council or Municipal Council areas are as follows;

SarawakJobs - rm1100
The minimum wage rates specified in the 2020 order shall not apply to a ‘domestic servant’ as defined under subsection 2(1) of the Employment Act 1955, subsection 2(1) of the Sabah Labour Ordinance [Cap. 67] or subsection 2(1) of the Sarawak Labour Ordinance [Cap. 76].
