SCaT (Sarawak Career and Training) Fair is the biggest of its kind in Sarawak. It’s an annual fair held especially to educate and inform the public. The fair serves as a one-stop center with the objective to:
- provide sufficient information on education and career opportunities to the public
- enhance the employability/ marketability of graduates/ youth
- empower youth to make more informed decisions for their future
- nurture interest in STEM among school children
SCaT Fair is an important platform for Sarawakian youths. It helps them to look for employment opportunities. This year’s fair estimated a staggering 2,600 job opportunities offered. Besides, employment opportunities, the fair also run other events. All of which serves to provide education, training, and financial assistance.
Every year, this event is a joint initiative. Made possible by TEGAS and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Research Sarawak. It sees multiple exhibitors come together to successfully reach its objectives. Exhibitors include companies, tertiary institutions, financial aid providers, and technical schools. As well as, government departments and agencies.
This year’s fair was just held last March 15th to 17th. It was held at the Borneo Convention Centre in Kuching. And, saw a huge turn out that exceeded last year’s numbers. This year’s fair received 20,000 estimated visitors, surpassing last year’s 18,000. Visitors included school leavers, parents, children, youngsters, and employment seekers.
